It is the PERFECT time to book your boudoir photoshoot! Whether you’re a bride considering this excellent gift for your groom or you want to surprise your significant other with something for their eyes only, remember, you want to give yourself enough time to schedule the photo shoot, as well as some time for the photographer to edit your photographs afterwards. And if you’re thinking of having them printed or bound in a book, then leave a little extra time for that too.

So, whether your session is booked or not, we’re bringing you ideas on how best to prep for a boudoir photo session. We’ll give you behind the scenes professional tips as well as great ideas so you can come confident and ready!

First, take a look through Teresa Lee Photography’s Boudoir Gallery and get some inspiration. You’ll find styles you might like to try and you can start wrapping your mind around the look you’d like to portray.

Now Let’s Talk Through your Wardrobe:
It’s important to pick things that make you FEEL sexy, not things that you THINK look sexy. If you don’t know where to start, some sexy clothing ideas for you to bring are: off the shoulder tops, maybe a man’s dress shirt and tie, lacy underwear, simple black or white bra and panties, sheer slips and lingerie, stockings, thigh highs, sexy heels, and subtle jewelry. Bring as many clothing options as you want.

Next, Let’s Talk Hair and Makeup:
It is highly recommended that you get your hair and makeup up professionally done. Makeup for the camera is much different than your everyday makeup. Veda Salon has done great work for many of our clients. Even consider hiring a stylist to be at your shoot to touch up your makeup and hair between poses and wardrobe changes. Be sure to get a salon manicure and pedicure for a flawless finish.

Let’s Discuss your Skin Options:
If you are planning a facial it is important to do that 2-3 days before your shoot. The same goes with waxing. It is a good idea to get waxed before your shoot but make sure you don’t do it the day of or even the day before, just in case you have a reaction, or even just redness. Don’t use self tanners and do not get a spray tan, but definitely moisturize for a beautiful soft glow. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your shoot.

The Day Of:
Get a good night sleep!
Wear lose clothing so you don’t have red marks.
Wear clear deodorant.
You’ll want to eat something light before your shoot so you’re not hungry, but not bloated either.
Make sure your outfits are steamed or ironed and all tags are off.

Last:
Remember to relax and have fun! It is normal to feel a little nervous, but once you enter our beautiful boudoir studio, your fears will melt away and you’ll be excitedly awaiting your gorgeous finished product!
